Connections Chapter 1

Haru was just your average 15 year old anthromorphic cat , he was easy to spot in a crowd due to the fact that he was the only black cat in Mason High . Much to his dismay because everyone in the school sees him as bad luck, he is avoided everywhere, ridiculed , belittled by his fellow classmates  because he "makes bad things happen" or "he'll spread the bad luck" they all say.

Today Haru had walked in the large door to Mason High School, it was only 6:30 and the first gleams of sunlight struggled to pass through the closed shudders

"Hello?" he asked and waited for a reply, but didn't get one, this made him smile "perfect" he said "no one to ruin the beautiful silence" he proceeded to walk to his locker, he rotated the dial on the lock around to the right 3 times and stopped on 12 the turned it one time around to the left and stopped on 22 he then turned it right and stopped on 15; he then pulled down and the lock,knowing its greatest puzzle had been solved yet again, softened it's grip and allowed itself to be removed peacefully.

"hi Aiyu" Haru said happily, meaning a picture of an exceptionally beautiful anthro cat that was taped to his locker, this cat had pale grey fur with dark grey highlights, one of her eyes was covered by her bangs but that one dark purple gem that was left showed enough emotion to compensate, she was wearing a long sleeved black shirt with red stripes on the sleeves and a red star was visible on the front of it, every time Haru would set his eyes on this picture he would blush heavily.

"you look radiant today" he said nervously "and i was wondering if you.........maybe......would" he couldn't finish his sentence, he was much to nervous "Darn it haru!" he thought "if you can't say it to the picture then you won't say it to the real thing!"

For you see Haru had been friends with Aiyu for 3 years now, and over this period of time he had come to realize that he had feelings for her, he wanted to tell her, but he was deathly afraid of her rejecting him. The fact that she lived 1,207 miles away from him also made it much more difficult, in this day and age Long-distance relationships are frowned upon and "almost never work."  

The advice of his friend spacer came to his mind yet again

"almost" Haru said, holding on the last shred of hope he could find within himself "theres always a chance it will work" he grabbed his books for his class

"who are you talking to?" a girl, one of haru's friends since 9th grade, asked him she was a wolf/fox hybrid and she was just abnormal as him, she looked fine on the outside, she had chocolate shaded fur with bubblegum pink highlights in her bangs with eyes to match, she had on a pair of old jeans with one of the knees patched and a multi-colored shirt, the white earbuds in her hears were loud, you could hear the song she was listening to,Papercut by Linkin Park, without needing to listen carefully. It wasn't that she was deaf,no, it was because poor Jenny had suffered from a severe case of Schizophrenia since she was only 9 years old,the only way Jenny could find solace in her own harmful world (she also had an abusive father) was by playing her music at loud volumes to keep the voices out of her thoughts.

"Just aiyu" haru replied "being insane as usual Jenny?" he joked

She laughed a bit and pulled out her earphones and shut her ipod off "You ever gonna ask her out for real?" she asked curiously "you two would look REALLY cute together."  she smiled a bit

"You think so?" he asked "that's a first" he smiled in return however to let her know that her cheering up was working "shes gonna reject me though i just know it"

"will not!" Jenny replied "you're being so negative" she shook her head "i'll ask her out for you if i have to haru." she said "and i mean it"

"Don't Jenny............" haru said "i'll do it today when i get home and have some computer time...............anyway don't you have better things to do?" he asked "like get to your biology class?"

"why?" she asked "i'm not really eager to since i got partnered with this new guy that's a total JERKFACE!" she said "and wears pajamas to school and has different colored eyes and has two tails for some reason" she sighed "i refuse to work with him hes insane!"

"so are you" haru added with another laugh

"i guess you're right" she said sauntering off to room 105 for said biology class "see you at lunch haru!"

"see ya too Jenny!" Haru said, he pulled out a sticky note and wrote something on it then stuck it next to Aiyu's picture and closed his locker , he restored the tight grip of the lock on the handle and ran off to his World Civ class


The note said one simple thing
